Sharp-tailed Sandpipers are another wader that breeds in the Arctic and visits Australia in large numbers during the northern winter.

According to Brett Lane in Shorebirds in Australia*, Most Sharp-tailed Sandpipers are found in the wetlands of Victoria, south western New South Wales and eastern South Australia. Only small numbers occur in Tasmania, despite their abundance in nearby Victoria.
